Exploring the world of IDEAS

When I was working on my book Maximize Your Personal Confidence and Motivation for Success, a close friend head about the book and called me up for a brief review of the book.

Well! I said “It’s a book about ideas. Ideas about success”. He head that and said “Ideas! With a long pause…I said “Ideas” and went on to explain “ideas” to him.

We all have ideas. Ideas about what to eat, where to sleep, how to grow rich, how to remain poor, how to be happy and so on. Ideas are like map that gives us direction, purpose and momentum to travel, sometimes in clear road or sometimes in a jungle where one has to cut new path.

We all have ideas. The only difference between the successful and unsuccessful people is that the successful ones use their ideas and the unsuccessful ones either don’t use their ideas or let others use their ideas.

Idea defined

Idea defined is a thought or collection of thoughts that are generated in an individuals mind. In this article, I wish for us to explore the word idea from the philosophical point of view. In philosophy, the term idea has been used to cover a range of concepts. Ideas are often construed as mental representational images; i.e., images of some object. In other contexts, ideas are taken to be concepts, although abstract concepts do not necessarily appear as images. Many philosophers have considered ideas to be a fundamental ontological category of being. The capacity to create and understand the meaning of ideas is considered to be an essential and defining feature of human beings. In a popular sense, an idea arises in a reflex, spontaneous manner, even without thinking or serious reflection, for example, when we talk about the idea of a person or a place.

Your ideas form your belief systems that become your life philosophies. Some wise once remarked, you life is the physical manifestation of your thoughts. Are you aware of what you are thinking about whole day long? Hey! It’s crazy to live on earth without a dream. Dr. Myles Munroe, bestselling author, businessman and pastor said “The poorest man on earth is the person who doesn't have a dream”. Dream stems our from your ideas, the philosophies you have developed over the years.

How do you refine your philosophies?

Refine your personal philosophies, business philosophies, relationship philosophies. Its ideas that matter. Money is just an idea translated to cash. Take all the billion dollars Bill Gates and he will still make another billion dollar again.

Refinement of you philosophies opens the door to abundance of creative ideas and greater business deals.

Oh heck! Why bother!

Remember; work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on yourself, you create a fortune. If you work had on your job, you create a paycheck and the brutal reality is that someone uses your hard earn degree (knowledge) as leverage to get richer and richer whilst you remain broke, just getting by from pay check to paycheck. Merry go round in the rate.

How so you refine your philosophies?

Read a good book instead of weekend partying. Watch a motivation video. Associate with people of substance. That is the only way to refine your philosophies and get out of rate race.

My mentor said to me one time "Ian if you really wish to be free from financial burdens, then you must study finance". It’s not the finance we study in college. Financial intelligence is more than what we learn in college. It’s Law, Its Accounting, Its reading Market Trends. You don’t have to be a Lawyer. Just a little bit of law can do. Knowing what to sign, what not to sign, different types of business contracts and so. I’m saying learn law, you will need it in your life.

Learn little bit of accounting. I am not saying spend another four years in college for an accounting degree. No. No. No. Learn about cash flow, income statements, how to budget and so on. It’s important. And hey! Understand the market place. You can’t win if you just be a spectator. Get into the market place and trade your values. Only then you know what is what and who is who?

Ending remarks

Sounds a lot, but it’s doable. Mental sunshine is waiting for you when you get out of this darkness.
