I have published 25 hubs since I joined hub pages 7 weeks ago. I have been quietly observing the fluctuation of my hub scores for the last 7 weeks. Interestingly enough, I figured out something that I believe is worth sharing here.

We all know that hub and hubber scores fluctuates a lot due to many named factors. But I have found out that we can stabilize the hubber score fluctuations and keep it within a range by following simple steps I will show you in this hub. Now that should really get your heart beating faster if you have read this far.

By the way, "Hub Score" refers to the scores of your individual hubs that you publish and "Hubber score" refers to your overall score (bold black figure) found below the right hand conner of your profile picture.

For the benefits of those who are new to hub pages, here are certain things you must consider

With my first 10 hubs, I reached a hubber score of 90. Quit impressive. I said to myself, just few more hubs and I will hit 100. What happened after the publication of my 10th hub was very interesting and its a big lesson I learnt that I will share with you now.

Mark Knowles hub http://mark-knowles.hubpages.com/_ianhetri/hub/How-I-got-my-hub-to-be-on-Googles-first-page answered most of my questions.

After reading this hub and meticulously studying it, I decided to try some of his tips. I did a small experiment on hub qualities as correlating to hubscores

Just after publishing my 10th hub, two of my hubs were said to violate hub pages regulations. Suddenly my hubber score dropped to from 90 to 87. Not bad I thought. So I didn't bother to fix the hubs that violated hub pages regulations. Then I decided to publish few poems. Why? Because I wanted to have more hubs so that my hubber score would increase. What a fatal mistake.

My hubber score dropped right down to 83. From 90 down to 83 in a matter of few days. You can say I was excited at this point. I did a bit of research and was impressed by Mark Knowles hub " How I got my hub to be on Google's first page

Lesson Learnt: Instead of publishing new hubs, I could have improve my older hubs and do even better.

OK so, I published the poem "An angel brought me home". The poem was short, had few pictures and no other capsules. As expected, the hub score score was below 75. The hub score during the publication of this hub was at 65.

Then I published another hub in comparison to the poem hub titled "What does success means to me in hub pages". The Hub score during time of publication of this hub was 83.

My hubber score remained at 83 when this hub was published.

What's my point in bluffing about my two hubs. If you think I am bluffing, just wait a second. If you have read this far, then I am pretty sure you are as serious as I am to know how you can maintain your hubber score at least at a range your are comfortable with so it can attract more followers.

Why more followers?

More followers means more views and more money if you are into making money in hub pages. This makes perfect sense isn't it?

What was in the second hub that made it score a higher hub score that the first one?

That's the million dollar question I have been bluffing about all along. There are many things you can do to get your hubber score remaining above 75 which.

Listed here are things I have placed in my second hub that scored higher than the first one.

1. High quality videos-I got 2 relevant high quality videos from utube and included in the hub.

2. High quality photos- I included 3 relevant photos. Two non-copy righted photos from Google images and two I took myself.

3. Three internal (hub pages) and 2 external back-link, one to my blog page and the other one to Google search engine

4. Finally I included poll.

I will not talk about others things or factors because I haven't tried them yet. I love to preach what I do so here I only talk about the things I did to the second hub that made a big difference to the first hub.

What should we do now?

OK.. That's it. You maybe thinking, just few videos, photos, links and what? This information is just the tip of an ice bag. With very minimal effort; few high quality videos and photos and several backs links and poll and I was rewarded an hub score of 83. Sounds very fair isn't it? .

Now consider if we just follow the hub pages’ instructions on how to write a flagship hub,

Here are the Instructions:

  • A minimum of 1500 words, of your own, high-quality purely original writing
  • A minimum of 3 relevant video capsules (YouTube or Google)
  • A minimum of 5 relevant images
  • At least 10 relevant links to other sources, each with your own 30-50 word description
  • A news capsule (or highly-relevant RSS feed)
  • Excellent thematic and aesthetic organization

Is this not what Mark Knowles did to get his hub ranked number one on Google ranking? You got the point now.I can honestly say time is a scarce resource to me because I manage a big oil palm plantation and has loads of work daily. But you see, little I did, I was greatly rewarded. My next aim is to fully meet all the requirements listed above. Who knows, you will be surprise to find my hub on Google's first page.

Conclusion

Both these hubs automatically scored above 80. You see a trend now. High quality hubs written according to hub pages flagship instructions are highly likely to maintain a hub score above 75 or even better at 100.

Hi hi. It takes lot more effort than one initially thinks. I wish I could meet all the requirements of a flagship hub and clock 100s but like I said its a war against time for me.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
