5 Powerful Steps to Build Your Image as An Expert To Earn Big Money

Updated on February 5, 2015

It seems like the world is going crazy for one thing. The thing called POWER. Why do the powerful nations go to war? The most frequent explanation is that they want to seize another country’s resources. Interestingly enough, Miami Herald reports that it is not power that countries go to war for.

The site goes on to sum up that leaders go to war for obscure reasons concealed behind eloquent moral and patriotic speeches, for power and glory, for the pleasure of ruling, for ideological daydreams, for arbitrary constructions — theoretical and strategic — that almost always turn out wrong, for avenging wrongs, because of religious, political or ethnic superstitions, or to defend themselves from some aggression.

Why is power so important in the world of money? Simple reason. Power is accompanied by another thing called EXPERTISE. Being an expert in one are makes you look powerful and power and expertise in irresistible in business world.

Most people will buy from you because they consider you an expert in what you do. Simple as that.

Why bring up this topic of power and entrepreneurship? Simple answer. You need it. You need it so you can become key person of influence for positive change in your sphere of influence. I don’t intend to imply that one becomes power hungry as doing that as negative implications. These are simple steps but trust me they are profoundly powerful steps that can turn your life around.

Grab your 48 Laws of Power here. Simple, and affordable book.

When people want to make an impression, most think a lot about what they want to say. Stanford Business Professor Deborah Gruenfeld cautions you to think twice about that approach. Deborah H Gruenfeld is the Moghadam Family Professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior and the Codirector of the Executive Program for Women Leaders. She is a social psychologist whose research and teaching examine how people are transformed by the organizations and social structures in which they work.

Take time to watch the YouTube video below to understand how power and influence can impact your own life and that of others.

Reflection video-Self learning

Following are five key strategies I have listed and explained for you.

Making a winning pitch

Making a winning pitch at the right moment can bring you respect and and to some extent, power. Observed key people in conversation. Every time, they are pitching new ideas or twisting old ideas and presenting in new ways. They try to engage people to what they are doing. It’s more or less like selling a product.

In this sense, certain people tend to sell ideas that influence others to follow them or offer them something. A classic example are the entrepreneurs. It was Daymond John, CEO of FUBU and an investor on the ABC reality TV series “Shark Tank,” who famously said, “An entrepreneur must pitch a potential investor for what the company is worth as well as sell the dream on how much of a profit can be made

Publish a book

Publishing a book give you a competitive edge over others. It shows you have done a lot in the area you wrote about. You may even be seen as an expert. This is the exciting part because it opens up doors to wide range of opportunities you can pursue. It also enhances your visibility, positioning you as an expert in your field, attracts pre-qualified prospects, permitting you to raise your rates and/or be more selective in choosing the clients you want to work with and opens doors of profit and opportunity.

Create a product

You can also use a product to assert your influence and gain power over others. Now power in this respect refers to use of positive influence in a community. I don’t imply brutal control, violence and abuses.

Create a product like a music, video or even write an eBook or create a blog and start blogging. Product opens widens your opportunities and earns you some respect and power where you are.

Profile

Make name online. Many people are seeing and believing type. So get out there and show yourself to the world. Build website of your own or start blogging. Use social media and promote your products.

Internet has leveled the playing field between corporate giants and and the government and the average people on the street.

Leverage partnerships

We are living in a highly interconnected world. Things are moving at a rapid phase daily. So be successful today, you not only need yourself but you also need others. As the old saying goes “No man is an island”, you got to find where other islands are and connect them. As matter of fact, very successful organizations or individuals that ever lived or are living now use networking as a powerful tool for gaining influence and power. Network. Build and cherish sincere partnerships.

Concluding remarks

We have covered the five key strategies of attaining personal power in your personal or professional life and I hope you at least try each one of them out.
